We had a fun day! As always, whenever I want to get a posed picture, Hannah starts screaming and Abby decides she no longer likes taking pictures! We may actually not get to see Abby’s face in her second year of life due to this new issue she is having with the camera  In the evening we went with Chris and Kelly to Kelly’s parents house. First we went to a small park and the kids had so much fun! Then we walked down the street a block or so to watch the fireworks. We had an excellent view without all of the traffic!

Family Pic

Swinging before the fireworks.

Refusing to open her eyes to see the fireworks!

She opened them and then decided she “LOVED” them. Here she is watching with Daddy.

Well, it has been discussed that I don’t have a “real” degree. I mean, what on earth would a person do with a Home Ec degree?
Errr, Um, I mean, a “Family and Consumer Sciences” degree?? Well, She would Cook and Sew!! And Sew I do! My friend Kelly asked me if I had seen and or could make a Diaper and Wipes case. They are very handy when you don’t really need the entire diaper bag… but want the security of at least having a diaper or two. So, of course I googled it! I found a great pattern here: and off I went to sew. First I made one for myself… Then two for Kelly. They close with Velcro and you can fit a wipes case and two diapers in them. I also included a little handle so you could hold it with just one finger if needed! I love them and think they turned out sooo super cute!

Abby was feeling pretty good. We decided to get out of the house (finally!!!) and head to the zoo with our friend Maddie! We got to see so many fun animals this time! We were super close to the Hippo! And even got to see a brand new baby giraffe!

Abby often forgets the word “what”. What is it?? It was a worm! I might even say a Night Crawler! She loved it! She wouldn’t touch it… but she watched it and followed it around the yard until it went back underground.

Ah… Olivia and her crazy gifts. Abby just loves her Uniqua ears. We wore them most of the day and watched the rain.

Yes, they were fantastic! We had them over big bowls of vanilla ice cream. I found the recipe on a blog that my friend Lynn sent me to one day. “Pioneer Woman” Sure knows how to cook! You can check out her recipe here: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2008/02/apple_dumplings/ The story is quite funny as well!

We are still trying to get a handle on the reflux. It seems we can usually predict the screaming now. But poor little Hannah is following right in Abigail’s footsteps (if not over stepping). We seem to be catching a few more smiles these days… Enjoy!

Once Abby’s fever broke we still had several days of not eating well and not feeling 100% But we would start off feeling really good in the AM so we often went outside for an hour or so. Today she wanted to play in the bubbles… so… we did!

She gave Hannah most of her pool toys while we were outside… Wouldn’t want her to get board in her bouncy seat!

Well, time to fess up. We didn’t tell everyone because we didn’t want you to worry… But Abby had a lovely week of Hand Mouth and Foot Disease last week. This is in no way related to Hoof and Mouth Disease that cows get by the way :) She was miserable. We were miserable. You can google it if you want to know more… but basically we started out with a 103 degree fever and it just went downhill from there. She had these ulcers in her mouth and throat (she didn’t get the hand/foot part) that prevented her from swallowing… ANYTHING. Gah! She couldn’t even swallow the liquid Motrin to help out with her fever/pain. She would try to drink milk or water but would end up screaming after she swallowed. It was so hard to watch. We spent roughly three solid days holding her and letting her cry. She didn’t eat or even swallow her own drool. After those three days, her fever broke and she was eating and drinking a few things. After about a week she was 70%. We are now over 10 days out of it and she seems to be 100% fine. I’ve never even heard of half of the crazy things kids get now. I suppose where I come from Mom would just say, “Yup, looks like she’s sick.” LOL

Finally! The guest room/office is now Abby’s room. Abby’s old room is now Hannah’s new room. Whew! What a very long weekend. We decided to make the new room the same color as the old room. A very very light pink. Abby acted so excited. “A new PINK room!” LOL It was like she didn’t know her old room was pink. Well, it took one coat of primer and THREE coats of paint! Then I also painted all of the trim TWICE. Gah! We do not have it decorated yet… but at least everyone is in the right place now. Abby helped carry her stuff to her new room.

She was also excited to see the new outlet covers and switch plates that Gma and Gpa Feger got her:
