We are going to miss Nick’s bday party this weekend. So Katy and I thought it would be nice to let Nick and Abby have a play date today. We went to Simpson Park (that one I found while I was lost). It was HOT and HUMID but the kids seemed to have fun.

We started out at the park equipment

And ended up at the beach

HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY NICK!!!

“Step away from the book Meagan! Far away!” This was a message I found on my answering machine. Yes…it is true. I haven’t answered the phone, done the laundry, checked the mail – nothing. My family smiles because I’ve taken the time to find them some food ;( Holy cow! My younger cousin got me started on a small series of books. JEESH! I haven’t read a book in I have no clue how long… and she tells me about this book. Gah. I’ve tried to avoid it! But, Sunday night, while I was in Target (without the girls) I could hear it screaming at me, “BUY ME! BUY ME!!” So I did. And now here we are. Up till 3 AM, phone on Do Not Disturb… I can’t help it. I’ve never read a book front to back that was over 200 pages… let alone 600!!! The first book I bought Sunday night and had it finished by late Monday night (or crazy early Tues morning). Then Tuesday I bought the second book and it is now finished as well. Sigh, thankfully there are only 4. So, I suppose I’ll head out tomorrow and try to find the third book and see what I can put on the back burner while I read it. Most of you won’t be interested in the books. Just think along the lines of “Buffy” and “Angel”. Anyway, I’m reading as fast as I can EVERY nap time and staying up as late as I possibly can. With any luck… this will all be over soon. Those of you angry that I’m no longer answering the phone may want to contact KERI and tell her to keep her book suggestions to herself from now on :) In all fairness… Thank you Keri! It really is SO NICE to lose myself in something totally unimportant for (a few) hours each day!

2 down 2 to go!

Let’s go to Eckert’s!! Michelle asked if we wanted to go pick some apples today. Sounds fun! Count us IN!

We got a bite to eat then went to watch the pig races. Abby really liked the music AFTER the race… so she sat and clapped for a bit.

Then we went to feed the goats. Michelle helped Abby get really close!

Next was the corn maze. Not to difficult… but Abby had fun telling us which direction we should turn.

Then…it was time to pick some APPLES!!!

Hannah slept about 98% of the time. Then she had a long ride home (screaming). But once we got her in the house and changed her diaper she was MUCH happier.

Godparents Ryan and Christian and cousin Marlei came to town to go to the zoo today

Jamey wasn’t feeling well – so he stayed home. But the girls and I decided to go meet them. This time I wore more sensible shoes since my feet are still hurting from Thursday!!

They had already been through the River’s Edge before we got there. So, first things first of course, we hopped on the train. The BLUE train if you need to know ;)

Abby was so excited that she jumped!

Then Marlei got excited and jumped too!

We also rode the carousel. (They charged me for Hannah – who was sleeping on my back!! Whatever!)

We had some lunch and then Marlei went to Build-A-Bear. When she came out, she gave Abby a matching orangutan! Thank you!!!

We of course visited the penguins and many other animals. Then we went to the Children’s Garden. We had never been there before! It was a really neat (calm, quiet) experience for the girls!

I asked Abby if she wanted to sit on the ledge by the waterfall so I could take her picture… She always FACES the waterfall ;)

We had a really fun day at the Zoo! I can’t wait to see these little cousins grow up together! Thanks for visiting Ryan, Christian and Marlei!

We went to the zoo today. Abby hopped in the stroller this time and I wore Hannah on my back. Abby has been asking to ride the Train for a couple weeks. So, we rode the train first thing! We got the red train and she seemed quite happy with that. She loves going through the tunnels and seeing the fountains. She also loves to wave at people when we go through crowded areas. Her whole face just lights up with the conductor says, “All Aboard” and rings the bell!!

Hannah looked around for quite a while. She stayed awake the entire train ride. I really wish I could have a bionic ear when I’m wearing Hannah on my back. I can hear “parts” of sooo many comments. I really wish I could hear the whole thing :) I love when I hear people say, “yeah, I have one of those” LOL RIGHT!!! Hehhe. Today I heard a person say, “I have one like that, but I just couldn’t figure it out. This [bjorn] is so much easier.” Right, um, yeah, but it is killer on your shoulders and back! Oh well, I don’t want to push my super fabulous carrier on anyone. It is kinda cool being the only one with Simon (Simon is the name of the green Didymos Wrap that I use – I didn’t name him – he came that way).

Next Abby wanted to ride the on the carousel. Today she picked the cheetah. She said, “I do it all by myself!!” Lately she has only been wanting to ride on the bench. So it was nice that she actually wanted an animal.

After the carousel we took a stroll through the Penguin House and Abby got a “penguin with yellow hair”. Ever since we grabbed our first penguin at the zoo she has talked about getting the yellow one (yellow feathers on its head).

Next we grabbed some lunch. The zoo really offers a nice menu for kids. Abby had a couple chicken nuggets, some goldfish crackers, cherry/apple sauce and apple juice. I got Abby all set up in a high chair (easiest way to contain her) while I nursed Hannah and had my lunch. We sat outside and watched the ducks.

Then, not done yet, Abby said she wanted to see the zebras. Well, one would think I had been to the zoo enough to know how to quickly get to the zebras – but nooooo. We got to see so much on our way to the zebras :) The baby tigers were out, the lions, baby giraffe and BIG giraffes and even the camels. And finally, Zebras.

Whew! time to go home. We took a stroll through the Bird Cage and then out to the car. Once we got home I grabbed this pic of Abby with her newest penguin.

Miss Ann, with Parents As Teachers, came for a visit today. She had a project with her for Abby! We used some contact paper with some tissue paper and cellophane and made a nice little sun catcher. Abby picked up each little color and told us what it was and stuck it on. It is so neat to see where the colors overlap and make new colors. She loved making it and I loved watching her. I’m in love with her little art project! I was eating lunch looking out the back door and I was just so proud! Good Job Abby!!

I have a few pics of my family that I must have swiped from mom. I’ve had them for years. They used to be in my locker in HS. Then on my bulletin board in college. Then in my planner once I entered the real world. Taking pictures the other day of Abby and Jamey sooooo reminded me of one of my favorites of me and my dad. Thanks for catching this moment mom :)

Please, no comments about the “pile o spit” right in front of her… it is what it is… ya know? :)

Craig, Alice and Emily got Abby the neatest “Three Little Pig” houses. She LOVES them. Today she asked me to take a picture of her with “all these pigs”. Well, here ya go!

We all decided to go check out the river in St. Charles. We spotted a waterfall on the walk to the river

and of course where there is a waterfall… there must be an Abby

Abby and Jamey on the way down to the river. I was carrying Hannah (of course).

This is Abby in the garden at the boathouse

Not sure what we were laughing about… but it must have been good!

Jenn commented once that she wasn’t sure how I could carry both of them. To ease your minds… I don’t carry both of them (usually). Most likely I’ve picked Abby up for a picture – because it is much easier to pick her up these days than to kneel down and try to stand back up :) LOL
