I’ve always wanted to make cut-out, iced sugar cookies. This was the year!! I learned a few tricks along the way. If you chill the cut out cookies before you put them in the oven they will keep their shape much better. I didn’t learn this until the very end – so I will be sure to test this again later. It is far more easy to make a perfect dot with a decorating tip rather than just a bag alone :) and last but not least: use a lazy susan when icing. Doing 5 cookies at once makes the job go much faster!!

I ended up making a couple different oatmeal cookies, refrigerator cookies, peacan cresents, dipped pretzels, sugar cookies and macaroons. Yummy!!

They were just sitting there – laughing, rocking. It was great!

We haven’t had a lazy day (especially a Saturday) in a LONG while. This has been a good one!

Every year I have so many plans of the things I will do. This year I finally accomplished some! The first thing I found was a tree skirt that I wanted to make. I noticed it in Martha’s magazine. It was easy enough – and it was made with felt so I didn’t even have to finish the edges.

Next on my list was new stockings. Many years ago I made myself a stocking. Then I met Jamey so he got one too! Then came Abby. Well, this is Abby’s 3rd Christmas and she is FINALLY getting a stocking! Hannah gets one too!

I purchased some wool felt at JoAnn’s. I searched online to see what other people were doing. I found a couple on Etsy that I liked. I also got an idea from PBK and Martha. Some of them are pretty similar to the ones I found and some I really changed up. I figure I’m not selling these – so a close copy is a compliment right? :) The one thing I did do differently on all of them is some hand stitching. I’d be willing to guess that I tied over 150 french knots. There were hundreds of other stitches as well. The originals also did not have many embellishments. I put some pom poms and jingle bells on each of the girls. I also lined each one with a matching cotton. I thought it might make them stand up to time a bit better. I am just thrilled with them. They make me smile every time I walk through the family room! Click on each image to get a closer look.

Abby woke up and went to the window… “SNOW” She screamed!! I go look and I don’t notice any snow?? Then I looked over on Mike and Annette’s roof and sure enough there was 1/16″ of snow up there. Soooo, all Abby could think about was getting out in the snow.Who was I to crush her dream. So the girls suited up and went out in the “snow”. IMG_7149 IMG_7156 IMG_7152

Unfortunately I couldn’t find Hannah’s snow pants (Abby hand me down). Guess I need to make a run to Target. Sigh… They did have lots of fun!

STARBUCKS! :) Well, not really. We grabbed some breadco before we got here. Jamey had a fantastic new sandwich. It was a jalapeño cheddar bagle with egg and ham.

Awww! Look at j’s little cup. Isn’t it cute ;)

The girls are at gma and gpas – and we are at the airport!! This is the first time we’ve done anything big without the girls. So, for those of you that are keeping track – it has been over 4 years!! We are super excited! I checked with mom and dad this morning and the girls are doing great. It seems our flight may be delayed a few minutes (we wanted to enjoy the full airport experience). Speaking of that — I beeped in security. It was my belt. Sigh.

We’ll be staying at the Bellagio. Tonight we’ll see Dave and Tim sitting down to give us an accoustic show!! Tomorrow night we are seeing Ka. We hope to catch a few moments of sounds and lights and then we’ll be heading back on Monday.

Since J gave me this new blog format I can blog pretty much anywhere from my phone. I’ll see if I can keep updating through this trip :)

Snow?!?! I guess it is time for some coats!! Abby has always had a pink coat. I didn’t see any pink ones that I really loved but I did see a blue one!! So this year Abby will be dashing through the snow in blue and Hannah will be tagging along in a previous years model (in pink) :)
