I woke up. I got the girls up. They were eating breakfast. I was making lunches. Jamey came down and packed snacks and water bottles. I took the girls to school. I came home and got my shopping list. Jamey was leaving for work. I kissed him goodbye and off I went as well. A very typical weekday morning.
At the first store I noticed the date on the receipt. January 24th. Exactly one and a half years post transplant. I sent Jamey a quick message. I sent Ryan a message. And then the day continued.
As I was driving home I heard “Come to Me” by the Goo Goo Dolls:
I’ll be kind, if you’ll be faithful
You be sweet and I’ll be grateful
Cover me with kisses dear
Lighten up the atmosphere
Keep me warm inside our bed
I got dreams of you all through my head
Fortune teller said I’d be free
And that’s the day you came to me
Came to me
Followed up by “Love Me Now” by John Legend.
So I’m gonna love you now, like it’s all I have
I know it’ll kill me when it’s over
I don’t wanna think about it, I want you to love me now
The songs were perfect. I’m certain they were played just for me to hear at that exact moment. 😉
So as I go on with this ordinary and typical day – I will be so grateful for what a blessing it is. Every single day. Every single hour. Every single minute and second that I get to spend with this man.
A blessing indeed.
