I cleaned the kitchen this morning and then decided we should dirty it! The girls and I grabbed our aprons and went to work! Chocolate Chip Cookies!!! We pulled some chairs up the the island and the girls took turns adding the ingredients.

Hannah loved watching each ingredient mix in! I should have recorded it – she was squealing!!

A little bit dirty.

Every once and a while they appear to really like each other :)

It is always fun when Mom splits the chocolate chip bag while she is opening it!!!!

This is right where Lynn STOPS the cookie making process :) Since kids were involved we went ahead and baked them. So sorry Lynn :)

I LOVE my Pampered Chef scooper!

Perfect little cookies!

Speaking of things I love — my oven is fantastic too! Thank goodness this one has a window!

Tick-Tock-Tick-Tock

FINALLY!!!!

In, Out, Waiting…

Yummy!!! We had a great morning!

I know I’m quite a bit late on this one – but I thought you might still like to see the pics :)

Daddy wanted to wish Abby good luck! Skype to the rescue!

She was really excited before drop off.

I wasn’t sure how I would like the drop off method. At her last school I walked her in every day. However, today, when we got to school and it was raining – I LOVED the drop off method. They met us at the car with umbrellas and Abby walked right in. Hannah and I stayed nice and dry in the car.

Hannah wasn’t nearly as excited for Abby :(

I decorated this house for Abby to take to school. It was supposed to help her describe some of the things we do together as a family.

This was the feedback from Mrs. Merseal, Abby’s teacher, on Abby’s first day.

Oh Jeesh!! I’m so sorry. I just realized how long it has been since I’ve posted anything new for you :/ Well, some of you already know – but I am training for a 1/2 marathon. It is taking every bit of free time that I have. I am up to 9 miles and only have to get to 13. I am running most of it – but there is a bit of walking in there. I only gave myself about 14 weeks to train. And I could only run a mile when I started — so, It won’t be perfect – but I’ll find a way to get it done :)

I ran a small little race with Christian a couple weeks ago. It was in the evening (after I ran 8 miles the day before). It was pretty horrible. My legs were so tired. The only saving grace was it was really really pretty! They had a back road of Hecker, IL lined with tiki torches – hundreds of them! And, most every one of the 1000+ people  running had on blinking lights and glow bracelets/necklaces. So Pretty! I tried to take a picture –  but of course it was so dark it just turned out to be a blur of color in the pitch black :)

This is us after the race. YES it was hot, YES we were tired, YES I may have had a beer when it was over :)

Brooke, Ryan, Jamey, Abby and Hannah all cheered for us while we ran! Many others cheered for us in spirit and couldn’t wait to hear about the race when it was over :) Christian finished  a minute or two before me – however, we don’t really know anyone’s official time. It appears the “official results” aren’t too accurate compared to our clocks. I really like the time they had for me better – but I don’t think it is correct :/

If you know us at all – you’ll know that we have had maybe 2 weekends alone since the weather was over 70. We love company – and we’ve had a ton!! This past weekend was no exception. We had some planned company and some very unexpected (but very welcomed) company!

The Alexander’s like to take us to a NASCAR race every year. My parents hadn’t been here in a while so I checked to see if they would babysit since it would be an all day/night affair. Of course they were game! So we had a houseful! The girls loved every minute as you might have assumed :)

We started Sunday off with a HUGE breakfast. Mom and I got up early and threw a couple quiches together. I had to read the manual to learn how to use my new oven. It was awesome! I made the pie crust and mom threw together the filling. Super Yummy! Spinach, mushroom, cheddar, swiss and bacon. Delightful!

Mom always made pinwheel cookies with the left over dough. I’ve grown up doing the same thing. I think we all can agree that homemade pie crust should NEVER be wasted!

The table was set and the food was delicious!

And of course no summertime meal is complete without a fresh tomato from Grandpa! We dressed up the plate a  bit with a bit of basil from the backyard.

Hannah LOVES quiche!

Jamey took some time to show Grandpa our electronics.

Of course this got my dads attention too!

Mom kept our Facebook friends current. Check out that sweet computer. Jamey was trying to find a way to snag it before they left. Not successful :/

Grandma Elaine and Abby played with the babies for a bit.

Hannah took her puppy for a walk.

Grandma and Hannah having a moment.

And then… the unexpected… JASON WAS IN TOWN!!!! Of course we loved every minute with the grandparents – but Jason had never even met Abby. The last time I had seen him I was pregnant with her. It was a great surprise and Jamey loved every minute of seeing his best buddy! For those of you that don’t know, Jason is living in Florida now. It really was just a HUGE surprise!

Jamey’s signature bowling pose:

Time to say goodbye so soon :( We were thrilled he could stay as long as he did! You are welcome back anytime Jason! The girls loved him. He was just awesome with them.

I noticed a Toy Story slip n slide in the Aldi flyer. We went today for a few groceries and I saw one! We put it out as soon as we got home. The girls played for an hour and never figured it out! I kept showing Abby the pictures on the box. I’m still a bit under the weather (and nearly 35) so I wasn’t about to show her how to do it! :P I got a couple good pictures even if they didn’t have perfect form :)

Notice her mustache? :)

Crawling on your knees approach…

Army crawl approach…

Now this pic makes it look like she did it correctly :)

Sometimes the pool at the end was just much more fun than trying to figure out the whole run/slide thing.

She found a worm – AND PICKED IT UP! Proud Mom :)

Kitchen is done!! I hated the orange walls!!! Orange walls, orange cabinets, orange floor!! GAH!!!! Yes, I know I need a curtain and some more decor… but I just couldn’t stand all of the orange!! Thanks to Brooke for helping me cover it in primer and thanks to Jamey for dealing with the girls much of the time while I painted. I love the green. If I have to keep the ugly cabinets — at least the green goes a bit better than all orange.

We met some friends at the zoo this morning. It was a bit humid but not horrible.

Company!

Ryan, Christian and Marlei stopped by for a visit. We had so much fun sitting and doing nothing! The girls played quite a bit and took some time out to paint.

How cute is this kid??? :)

I think Ryan was showing us how big… Oh, never mind :P

Hannah’s room is done!!! Well, I have a few more things to put on the walls… but the paint is done. The curtains are hung. And I feel a little bit of peace!!

Girls night has changed quite a bit in the last 10 years. Now, I don’t really have to worry about who’s driving home and who we are going to see out — I usually worry about who is going to poo their pants and if my toes will get ran over :/

Tonight the girls and I decided to take a long walk around the neighborhood. We started off on our street talking to neighbors. Then we strolled around to another cul de sac. Finally we ended up on the walking trail and looped around the pond. We saw lots of ducks while we were by the pond. Abby even pointed out that a couple of them were playing! “Look Mommy!! That one with the green head is jumping on that one with the brown head. Wow! He’s holding him under water! They sure look like they are having fun.” LOL!!!! Apparently some of the ducks had been playing earlier in the season. We got to see a nice little bunch of babies :)

After our walk Abby asked if she could ride her bike for a bit. We did two laps around the cul de sac. She is really getting good!

I just have to remind her to look where she is going. She gets so caught up watching her feet!!

They both had lots of fun! (I have to go get that other helmet out of storage!!) Jeesh!
