Girls day out

By Meagan Uncategorized No Comments »

I took the girls for a spin through lone elk park. Everyone was in the road! :) Abby though that was fantastic. Then we grabbed some lunch and headed over to “airplane park”. Beautiful day!

We picked Abby up from school and decided we needed some shakes. We enjoyed them as we took a drive through Lone Elk Park.

This is the children themed area of the park. Ian really wanted to ride the roller coaster so the girls and I sat down with some pretzel goldfish and a drink. See how useful that tablecloth is ;) ? Without it those fish would have fallen right through the table! Once Ian and Laura returned we went to race some boats and cars. Then it was in to the once thing Abby really wanted. The carosel!

It was so cool! We got reservations as soon as we arrived at the park. So all we had to do was show up! We waited by the outdoor pool of sharks, rays and other fun ocean creatures. Once we walked in Abby and Ian sat right next to the glass! These HUGE sharks swam right past them the entire meal. Hannah pretty much just copied whatever Abby said. If Abby yelled “Wow! Look!!!” you can bet the same thing was coming from Hannah two seconds later.

We had to get out of the house for several house on Sunday because we were having an open house. We decided to go check out airplane park and Lone Elk Park. Usually I go to LEP first — but today I decided to check for airplanes. As soon as we pulled in we noticed a long cable laying on the ground at the first flying area. We’ve never seen this type of airplane so we decided to stop and watch. The closer we got we realized there wasn’t a plane attached to the cable but instead A BALD EAGLE!!! The folks from the World Bird Sanctuary  were there training two of their Eagles. It was such an awesome thing to see!

Monday was a good day

I love going to Lone Elk Park when it snows. It is so much easier to see all of the wildlife. Abby loves seeing all of the footprints. We got to see quite a bit on this day. The pond was frozen so we talked about the prints we noticed there. I thought that it was pretty neat how the animal prints never tried to walk across the deep parts. How do they know?? Most of the prints were along the edges. Some were across the more shallow areas. It was cool :)

We got to see geese and one deer. Then we ran across some bison. And finally, right as we were leaving the truck in front of us stopped – and there they were ELK!!! One had a rack on his head that had to be as tall as me. Just beautiful!

Abby loves to go to the “airplane park”. This is where several people gather to fly their remote controlled airplanes. Hannah was taking a snooze in the car… so Abby and sat in the grass and watched the airplanes. Here are a couple of pics of her running :)
