I’d rather have broccoli and cous cous!! Seriously?? SERIOUSLY!!

So, Abby has turned into quite a picky eater. The good thing is she doesn’t really beg for specific foods – she just chooses to eat/not eat what is in front of her. So be it… maybe she just isn’t hungry?

Hannah, on the other hand, will eat most anything. Jamey and I were going to be eating quite late the other night – so I made the girls a quick grilled cheese and some carrot sticks. Abby sat and ate her food. But not Hannah. STRANGE!! Hannah is more like a small goat or vacuum.  I was really perplexed with this one!

The girls were winding down and getting ready for bed. Jamey grilled us some steaks (Abby would NEVER even consider eating meat like this) and I made some broccoli and cous cous. The next thing I know Hannah pops up and says, “tree” “TREE”!!!! Ah, the kid wants some broccoli! Who knew??? So, in the end, Hannah split my steak with me – bite for bite!! Then finished off my trees and cous cous!

Abby was content painting.

Abby sure has learned one thing on this trip– every time she sees a bench she hops up and says, “Take our picture!” This is our final morning in Florida. I know I’ve already expressed how fantastic this hotel is but let me tell you about breakfast!! There is a two sided buffet! There is also a bread and pastry type bar with toasters and spreads. Then there are a few drink stations. I learned that adding some sprite to your morning oj gives it a little kick! :) When the staff sees you walking into the breakfast area they start scouting a table for you. Then they actually help you get the right number of chairs and high chairs situated. I can’t praise this place enough. Just super family friendly!

Every year I have so many plans of the things I will do. This year I finally accomplished some! The first thing I found was a tree skirt that I wanted to make. I noticed it in Martha’s magazine. It was easy enough – and it was made with felt so I didn’t even have to finish the edges.

Next on my list was new stockings. Many years ago I made myself a stocking. Then I met Jamey so he got one too! Then came Abby. Well, this is Abby’s 3rd Christmas and she is FINALLY getting a stocking! Hannah gets one too!

I purchased some wool felt at JoAnn’s. I searched online to see what other people were doing. I found a couple on Etsy that I liked. I also got an idea from PBK and Martha. Some of them are pretty similar to the ones I found and some I really changed up. I figure I’m not selling these – so a close copy is a compliment right? :) The one thing I did do differently on all of them is some hand stitching. I’d be willing to guess that I tied over 150 french knots. There were hundreds of other stitches as well. The originals also did not have many embellishments. I put some pom poms and jingle bells on each of the girls. I also lined each one with a matching cotton. I thought it might make them stand up to time a bit better. I am just thrilled with them. They make me smile every time I walk through the family room! Click on each image to get a closer look.
