Wow. It feels like I blinked and we went from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve. When things get crazy it’s amazing how you can seriously lose track of time (or the day or date). We’ve been talking about time just one day at a time. “Tomorrow we… The day after tomorrow we…” In the past I’ve set New Year goals. I wanted to eat healthier, run races, spend more time being an involved mom, and so on. I don’t know that I can even wrap my head around what I want or need to accomplish this year. I need strength. I need understanding. I need grace. I need to be the best wife I can be while keeping my kids needs front and center. I need patience. I need to force myself to remember that kidney disease (and dialysis and transplant lists) will not define us. It will be part of us but it will not BE us. We are a very strong family of four. We wrestle in the family room and dance in the kitchen. We slide down the stairs and wake up at 3 am to look at the stars. We drink cocoa in the summer and eat ice cream in the winter. We build sand castles and snowmen and Lego houses and write Java (I know! Right??). We put smiles on our faces and sing fantastic songs at the top of our lungs-especially when one of us is trying to wear a frown. We ride our bikes and walk the trails. We off-road in the mountains and sightsee over the passes. We are a strong and solid family. We are surrounded and loved by family and friends. Here we go 2015! We will accomplish and celebrate many great things this year in typical Feger Family fashion! Happy New Year!
AMEN! We love you all!
