14 days. Creatinine down 18 points. Weight (extra fluid and toxins) down nearly 30 lbs. Phosphorus down. Potassium down. Liver enzymes down. Thankful and Amazed.
Wednesday afternoon I was scheduled to return Jamey’s cycler to the DaVita Clinic. At the last minute he decided to jump in the car with me. I’m so glad he did. It was lovely to see the smile on Nurse Sally’s face.
This is a late post. Last week, the day we came home from the hospital, I cleaned all traces of dialysis out of our bedroom. Today is our first clinic. We have to come back to the hospital twice a week for the next couple of months. They do a blood draw and collect urine to make sure his kidney is doing its job and the antirejection meds are doing thiers.
Jamey’s immune system is shut down almost completely for the next couple months. This helps his body not attack the new kidney. The immunosuppressants will be relaxed a bit around October. Last night I did something I haven’t done since Christmas Eve. I silenced my phone while we slept. We are no longer waiting on a call about a kidney. It was lovely. ? Jamey slept pretty well in between taking pain meds and peeing. Our nurses/doctor told him that the crazy amount of urine will regulate in a couple months.
How cool is medicine and science??
JoC said that as soon as hb saw Ryan home from the hospital she said, “Thank you for giving my Daddy your kidney.” Melts. My. Heart!!
